very disappointing |
|
This one is on the trash heap today. Unless you are looking for a challenge to earn sainthood, do not buy this. It guarantees hours of winding cord and minutes of productive work. |

Like new product |
|
The unit is like new. Hard to tell it is reconditioned. Before I bought this I attempted to replace the switch in the old one. That apparently was not the problem. So I have a Ryobi string trimmer that could be reonditioned, but don't know where to send it. |

Disappointed in the basic quality |
|
I ordered my first Reconditioned Ryobi 15 inch trimmer a couple of weeks ago. It arrived with a critical small piece not attached. The piece missing was the "sleeve" or "collar" that allows the shaft of the attachment (string trimmer, edger, etc.) to attach to the shaft of the powered unit. I tried to attach the sleeve myself and could not. I boxed it up, sent it back, and requested an exchange. The second trimmer arrived yesterday. I unpacked it, began to assemble it and the threads on a critical bolt were stipped. The bolt is the one that tightens the clamp around the tube of the attachment once it is inserted into the tube of the powered unit. I could not simply replace the bolt because it is built into a plastic "winged head" so the user can tighten and untighten it without any tools. So again, I couldn't use the trimmer because of a small, simple yet critical component. I am very disappointed since both units were not usable due to a simple quality issue that should have been addressed before leaving the factory. When simple things like this are overlooked, I question the overall quality of the reconditioned product. I will request a refund and do not recommend this product. |

Great product |
|
I was very disappointed when I realized that I needed to replace our old electric ryobi trimmer as it finally broke and they stopped making them. The reconditioned one I purchased was wonderful and I was a bit nervous about purchasing something reconditioned. We have 4 attachements and everything works perfectly. I would recommend this product. |

Ryboyi 41002 String Trimmer Has Defective Switch!!!!! |
I have had my Ryobi Electric String Trimmer for about a year and used it sparingly. Today it stopped working about half way through the yard so I went on the interenet and found out why.
Robyi has a defective switch ... I took it apart and wired the two brown wires to the blue and light brown wires and now it works without a switch ... a little scary and dangerous but it works.
I emailed Robyi for a replacement switch assembly and we will see if they come through or not. Marketadvisory carries the switch for only 3.22 but the shipping is $7.12 ... See answer 1286 for the part # UT41002A-36 for the switch assembly.
Here is the Marketadvisory link for the switch:
SWITCH ASSEMBLY UT41002A-36
Here is the site to read about the problem ... surprising that Consumer Reports rated it as a Best Buy in Mar 2006 ... they usually are better than that but missed this one!
Link to the discussion about the problem: would not let me put it all on one line so open a new window and paste 1st half and hit return, then come back and copy 2nd half and paste it onto the 1st address in the new window. I checked it and it worked that way:

Not hard to replace, but frustrating that this Robyi has a bad part in it!

PS: I may just put me a switch in its line ... that would work!
This is my first Robyi product and probably my last!
