Do alot of laundry? The Rowenta DG5030 Pressure Iron and Steamer is designed for a busy family looking to get the most efficiency from an iron. Let's face it, nobody really enjoys ironing. This model makes it easier. The powerful vertical steam option allows the iron to be used in an upright position to remove wrinkles from hanging garments, including curtains, drapes and slipcovers. The steamer has variable steam control so output levels can be adjusted to fabric type. It has a ergonomic trigger for immediate powerful steam. The steam is distributed through a 6 foot long steam cord for optimal versatility. The water capacity is extra large, at 33-ounces., for up to 1.5 hours of uninterrupted use. A 12 foot long electrical cord provides greater convenience and the compact base fits most ironing boards. Nonstick, stainless-steel soleplate seems to glide without friction over fabrics. Iron rest for convenient storage of iron during use, secured position during transport Variable Steam Control lets you adjust steam to output to fabric types, powerful steam for thick, heavy fabrics or light steam for delicate fabrics 9 foot long steam cord for versatility |

Great iron, but the lack of a water level is its downfall |
I like the iron. It does a great job on even the gentlest of fabrics!
Though, I do iron in large quantities and the lack of a water level is the product's downfall. I followed the instructions on how to refill the chamber while in use, but it still was dangerous and not worth it. I used up whatever steam was left in the unit, then let it cool and unplugged it too. According to the rather simple directions, this should have sufficed. Though, when slowly unscrewing the cap, a loud shriek came out of the unit and nearly burned me. Now, I've worked with professional models as a tailor over the years, but this was the worst near accident that I've ever had. Granted, this may have been my own fault, but I clearly did what I had to do and again, there was no way to tell how much steam and or water was left.
I find myself using this iron for only part of my ironing until deciding to revert back to my old reliable one. |

Great Product |
|
This iron is perfect for my purposes - quilting. My only reservation is that there should be a see thru window to determine how much water is in the tank. Other than that, I think it's great. |

When one spends around $150 for a steam iron, chances are it will help you lower your dry-cleaning bills.. and this one surely has done that for us |

Rowenta DG5030 Steam generator iron |
Rowenta DG5030 Pressure Iron & Steamer
VERY DISAPPOINTING!!! This is the 3rd Rowenta steam generator iron I have purchased (5th Rowenta iron I have owned) and the quality and craftsmanship of the Rowenta product I am sorry to say is poor. My last steam generator only lasted 2 years (on/off switch stopped working); I had the first steam generator for 4 1/2 years. Anyway, this newer model does not have a see-thru, removable water container which was great because you could continuously refill the iron. In this recent model you don't know when you will run out of water and when you do you have to stop ironing and let it cool down before the boiler can be opened and re-filled. I am a male and I find the housing/boiler too heavy and bulky to empty the water out when done ironing. No matter how hard I try I never get the water out of the boiler completely--which I believe may rust the boiler.
The worst problem with this iron is that it spits (squirts) water out heavily while ironing...I have tried various settings to get it to stop. Water spotting on clothing is a big problem. I have a $19.00 Black & Decker steam iron that works better than this Rowenta steam generator iron.
I don't recommend this product, it is not worth the money paid...and I am in the process of reviewing some more expensive Japanese and Italian manufactured steam generator irons. Rowenta has lost this valued customer.

Ironing made easy |
|
This the second steam iron I have gotten and although I liked the use of the first one I spent all my time filling it and could only iron maybe two pices and then had to shut down and fill it again. Now I fill the tank and my Rowenta iron not only irons as well but it will iron for an hour which is usually all my ironing for one day before I have to shut down and refill it. I love my iron and will continue to bye and use this product and my new iron was considerably less expensive than the first one I bought. I am a nurse and I iron all my uniforms. Now I look forward to doing them instead of dreding the chore. Thanks |
