Good but sensitive |
|
Product works as advertised. The drawback is that it is really sensitive, so if you plan on wearing it or clipping it to anything, expect the alarm to be reset or stopped without your knowledge. This is an excellent timer if you leave it on a counter, but if you want to wear it or move it anywhere, it is useless. I tried to wear it at work as I walked around, and found that it was not effective. Also, wearing the alarm clipped directly against my side on the waistband of my pants as I exercised, I missed my stopping time because I could not feel the vibrating alarm at all. The three alert options are fantastic, but they are not all effective. |

Can't Live Without It |
It's indispensable to me in the office where I use it for meeting reminders. The ability to signal "time's up" with a flashing red light and/or vibration is priceless to me as I do not want to draw attention with a beeping alarm when others are present.
Unfortunately the product itself doesn't live very long. After about 2-3 months the flashing red light and vibration modes--which are unique to this model and made me buy this product in the first place--just stopped working. The timer functions still work, but what use is that? I don't carry it with me or treat it roughly, in fact it just sits on my desk.
This is the second unit I've bought from amazon.com. When the first one gave out, I toggled back and forth the switches that control the sound, vibration and light, and put in fresh batteries but to no avail. Since I liked the product so much, I figured I had a lemon, and since it now cost 50% more, Polder must have identified a QC problem and spent some money to fix it. Alas the second unit lasted as long as the first and now I have to return it.
I'm speculating that the reliability may have to do with the fact that the unit has no OFF switch and therefore stays on all the time. Regardless Polder, please fix this problem and come out with a successor. I can't live without it!
P.S. Would have given it 5 stars if reliability was not an issue. |

Poor quality timer, lasted less than two months |
This is a poor quality timer and it died on me after less than 2 months. I am a full time graduate student and I wanted a timer that I could turn off it's audible alarm while I studied and this Polder timer was just about the only one. I have been using it since I purchased it in early July 2008 and the vibrating function has died and it beeps even when the audible alarm has been turned off.
I am currently trying to get Polder to replace it under the warranty.

I love the design. Quality control is an issue. |
I have owned 5 of these. I have them all over the house. Kids use them to time how long they have been on the computer so that all get a turn. Out of 5 timers, three still work. The only issue is that they lose the volume on the audible alarm. One lost the audible alarm completely. One got so quiet it was very hard to hear. Yes, all the timers are on the correct setting for audbible alarm.
I do love the design on these timers though and would probably buy the same item to replace the broken ones. Kind of sad isnt it..... |

Good features for a good price |

Neat features- lightup, vibrates, and/or rings. Wish it was smaller for use in special ed classrooms, but it's not that big. My only issue is that the clip on the back has broken off all of ours. |
