Ideal for the chemically sensitive or those with small children, the Bissell Steam Mop deep-cleans hard-surface floors using the power of pure water alone. No harsh (or expensive) cleaners means no fumes or residues to irritate lungs or muddy delicate finishes, while the use of hot steam rather than buckets of water leaves floors dry in just seconds. Heated and ready to use in 30 seconds, the remarkably quiet mechanism works something like an iron: steam is dispensed on demand, rather than continuously, by pressing the trigger while passing the mop over the floor. Hot steam easily removes hardened and sticky gunk, especially if the mop sits over the mess for a few seconds. (Leave it in place 15 seconds to actually sanitize the cleaning surface.) The machine steams for approximately 15 minutes before the tank needs to be refilled, but there's no lag once you refill it. I just got the Bissell steam mop and used it on my white tile floor. The main reason that I wanted to try the steam mop is I have 2 cats a dog and a cockatoo. The odors from fragrances/perfumes in household cleaners can be deadly to a bird. So whenever I moped the floor the bird would have to go outside until the floor dried. I had been using a sponge mop. The amount of tile floor I have consists of a, hallway past 2 rooms, a foyer, a large dinning room, and a kitchen. The construction of the mop is on par with other appliances in this price range, it did not seem to be cheaply made. assembly consists of attaching the swivel head with a screw, attaching the handle with a screw, and filling the water bottle. The steam mop not only cleaned better than the sponge mop with dedicated tile cleaner, it was much easier to use, it pushes easier than the sponge mop, it gets closer to the base board, and I can clean under furniture I had to move before. It will remove minor scuff marks, the marks that come from sitting at a counter stool, no bucket to drag around, and no noxious "fragrance" odor. The cleaning leaves the floor wet but it dries in about 1/3rd the time of a moped floor. The bottom of the mop gets hot enough that I could not put my hand on the bottom of the mop when I was finished. I had to refill the water bottle once. I had to plug the mop into 3 outlets. Almost forgot, the steam mop is not as prone to streak as much as the sponge mop.
I rate this as a 4.5 stars it missed five stars because the cord to short. |

I have wanted to try a steam mop for a while now, and I found this map very easy to use, and very efficient. The mop works quickly and very well. The floors also dried fairly quickly after I used it. I love the washable pads that come with it. |

Great little steam cleaner for my tile floors |
I just received this product today and put it right to work. Wow, what a great little machine and my floors are so clean with little to no effort on my part. The majority of my home is ceramic tile and this steam cleaner did a superb job of cleaning the tile. My tile floor is not shiny so there was no concern of streaky drying. It didn't really get into the grout but I wasn't expecting it to. I was just looking for a product that would allow more freedom when mopping the floors.
I like the fact that it steam cleans and only uses water. I will definitely mop more often with this product rather than when I had to use a traditional mop and pail. I like that the pads can be changed while cleaning so that you are using a clean pad when doing the floors. I also like that the water on the floor is hot vs. using a traditional mop where as the water sits it becomes lukewarm. So I'm using less water, I'm not lugging around a pail of heavy water and I don't have to wring out and use a dirty mop until the job is done.
The only changes I'd make:
a longer plug in cord
a larger water dispenser
more pads upon purchase (though you can purchase more on eBay for less than the Bissell website)
change the trigger so you don't have to constantly hold it down to release steam
Overall I'm extremely happy with this purchase! Goodbye traditional mop, hello green tea. |

ok for small jobs |
I have a herniated disc, do all the house cleaning myself so thought a steam cleaner might be the thing as I have gone through so many other mops that take so much strength and hurt my back. I was told I could not mop by my doc and my therapist so...
I spent days looking at steam mops and the only reasonable one seems to be the saeco piccolo but that is not available anywhere.
I tried to use this mop through the whole house and I have vinyl flooring. It took me 3 times as long as the starmop, did not pick up debris and I did vacuum before using it. It was good for doing the white tiles on my kitchen floor which takes 2 changes of the terry mop cover(every day). It is good for loosening bird poop off the floor (stand and steam). It also left lots of streaks. I don't reckon it is much good... Don't waste you money.
My friend has just moved into a house where it is all carpeted and she has a tiny bit of granite flooring so swapping the bissel for her starmop and buying a stronger steamer for the bird poop and kitchen..
