Product Description |
|
The MaxiScan code reader supports all OBD2 protocols, including the newly released Controller Area Network (CAN) protocol. Though it is small, it is able to retrieve same information as large expensive scanners. This code reader reviews the emission readiness status of OBD monitors and determines the malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) status as well as turns off check engine light. It comes with free CD software with over 7000 DTC definitions and is powered via detachable OBD2 cable. |

Did not work on 2010 Volvo XC90 |
|
Not only this scanner did not work (2010 Volvo XC90) it actually turned on the check engine light. Fortunately it later cleared on its own. Manufacturer non-responsive. Returned the unit and purchased Actron instead. |

Did the Job! |
|
I had the check engine light come on and I didn't want to take it to the repair station so they could charge me $75 just to run the code. This machine paid for itself in that first usage as I was able to retrieve the code, educate myself about the problem and let the repair people know that I knew what I was talking about and wasn't a "screw over" candidate. Now everyone I know wants to "borrow" it and I get calls anytime someone's check engine light comes on... |

OBD-II Scan Tool |
Received the product in excellent condition, with prompt shipping and delivery.
The Autel Maxiscan MS300 CAN OBD-II Scan Tool works beautifully; my check engine light was on and I scanned the vehicle (2001 Mazda B4000 Truck) and received a code of P0401 which when I checked with the supplied CD indicated that my vehicle was getting insuficient exhaust gas return. I checked the EGT system and found a defective sensor, replaced it and turned off the engine check light with the scanner. |

Does the job |
|
Works as advertised. I have used inexpensive code readers before, however this one is a little nicer to use as it provides a simple menu to navigate through error codes and to clear codes. I have not tried any advanced functions and have not loaded the included disk. |

Best value for the money |
Worked great.
I read the reviews here before purchasing it. A few of the bad reviews seemed to be due to a poorly-written instruction booklet. Neither I nor my son had the slightest problem in using this device to read and reset the OBD-II codes.
Compared with the cheapest devices at our local auto stores (at twice the price) this did everything we needed. We saved a bundle by diagnosing our own problems instead of paying $80 to any number of local shops to diagnose it for us (they charge just to read the codes!).
The fancy models provide a plain English on-screen definition of the codes. By looking up the codes in the book that comes with this product, we saved about $120 by purchasing this model. |
