Nakai's free improvisations on this album are based on his impressions of the Anasazi and Sinagua sites, ancient cliff dwellings that were home to communities of Native people thousands of years ago. By using the Roland SDE 3000 Digital Delay system, Nakai is able to play duets with his own echo, in an effort to emulate the echoes of the past that haunt these ruins. On this recording, Nakai's flute sounds even more plaintive than usual, as if the spirits of these forgotten ancestors had entered into the studio to fill his playing with the whispered reverberations of their ancient ways. This is one of Nakai's most deeply felt recordings, one that resonates with a deep, melancholy yearning. --j. poet |

Beautiful! |
I love to listen to this beautiful native American flute music. It has such a soothing effect on me. I debated for quite some time about buying it, and now I wish I hadn't taken so long! Carlos Nakai has a real gift. |

mellow meditation music |
This is my favorite music to listen to while meditating. Not distracting at all, but rather the haunting flute sounds lead to a very deep inner place. |

soothing music |
The music on this CD is wonderfully quiet, reflective, contemplative. I ordered this to help me sleep while going through the grief from the death of my husband. It provided a wonderfully peaceful ambience and helped a lot. |

Massage Music |
I use this cd when I am doing massage for clients. It is very relaxing and all of my clients can drift off to another place for an hour. Its pretty generic music so all can enjoy. |

Lots of echo |
I enjoyed this CD, but just to throw in a contrarian review, I found the echo mastering to be a little bit annoying. I kept thinking, that this is such beautiful flute music, and I wish I could hear it straight, without the artificial echo. I'm certain though that the echo is part of the reason many people love this disc. |
