Product Description |
Buika unveils herself on the cover and bears all on her third album, Niña de Fuego. Buika does away with the costumes that usually decorate album covers, stripping away all but her feelings. When she moved to Madrid and recorded her first album, she showed the never-ending possibility of her skills as a singer. With her second album,Mi Niña Lola, produced by Javier Limón, she got the credibility, the recognition, the awards, the performances, and the exciting reviews that left people breathless. Her career cannot be summarized in a sentence but when she opens her mouth you realize there is no singer like her. Buika now arrives with her third album, Niña de Fuego (Girl of Fire) again teaming up with producer Javier Limón. On this album, Buika returns to the Spanish copla, performs for the first time several ranchera songs, and also some new songs composed by herself and Javier Limón. The album is full of songs about love and longing affection. Buika sings of her personal experience in the lyrics that she and Javier Limón wrote and composed. |

The one and only Buika |
|
Ever since I read a synopsis of her life and music career in the newspaper a year ago, I was intrigued. I went to see her in a small local theater, and since then I was hooked. She mixes African and Spanish rythms with jazz and Latin beats to create an amazing sound. Her voice is captivating and penetrating. She portrays herself through her music. |

Nu Flamenco at its best. Enthralling. |
The free-spirited Mallorcan diva Buika represents a new flamenco phenomenon.
Buika grew up among gitanos in Majorca and it shows, although she delivers her vocals with the nonchalant ease of a jazz singer.
Her latest album is "Nina De Fuego". Concha Buika's singing is soulful and untamed.
Her husky voice and songs are striking.
On this disc she works with Javier Limón on guitar and Iván González Lewis on piano.
There are also atmospheric trumpet solos in this set of predominantly introspective songs. Without ever raising her voice, Buika is a sensual singer reinvigorating Spain's dynamic nu-flamenco scene.
She has taken an age-old tradition and applied her own style influenced by her African roots.
Buika mixes flamenco with a more informal vocal style that draws on jazz and soul.
The simmering passion, when it explodes, is overwhelming. She sings about love with feelings that are far more dangerous than romantic.
The arrangements, deftly interweaving flamenco, fado and Cubana, are intimate and impeccably executed.
This combination of raw emotion and sweet music creates something enthralling. |
