To Queensryche fans, Operation: Mindcrime is the hard-rock equivalent of Pink Floyd's The Wall in its ambition, scope, and theatrical pomp. This 1991 filming of the band's live presentation of the album is no substitute for its electrifying stage show, but as filmed concerts go, it's a pretty good replacement. Visually, director Wayne Isham and his editor Jeff Richter do their best to keep up with the multimedia production: films, lighting, cued sounds, and dialogue are as important to Operation: Livecrime as the music. But enough of the convoluted story comes through to allow even the uninitiated to follow it. Musically, the band is in top form, especially singer Geoff Tate, who seems to hit notes most rock singers didn't even know existed. The DVD also includes a new interview with Tate and "The LIVEcrime Story," a set of images that originally appeared in the booklet of the limited-edition CD boxed set. --Kevin Filipski |

The best band of the 80's |
|
This video, for a live performance, is excellent. I saw this tour live and this DVD brings those days back like it was yesterday.......I wish it was. As a guitarist and a huge fan of Eddie Van Halen (who isn't?) there is no tandem guitar band on the planet that was better than Wilton and DeGarmo in the day. I miss these guys playing together but time marches on unfortunately. The sound on this DVD is outstanding! I am not a fan of live performances because the sound is never as good as the studio but this was just great. My #2 favorite band lives on in a great live performance. |

I was there that night in Madison, Wisconsin... |
|
This DVD sure brought back fond memories of the best concert I have ever seen - and I have seen numerous concerts over the years. I was one of the 10,000 or so that can actually say I was there the night in Madison when it was filmed, and am glad I was. I had purchased the VHS version upon release, but that since has gone the way of the VCR itself. The ONLY disappointing thing I had with the DVD version is that there was no booklet included that acted as a "program" for the production, unlike the original VHS version. Otherwise...it was all that I expected - and remembered! |

Queensryche - Operation Mindcrime! |
|
I have the 2-disc CD when this album came out back in the 90's. It's one of my favorite hard-rock bands, and I am very happy to now purchase the DVD version of this album. I play it on my portable DVD player at work during my breaks. I've received many compliments from people at work pertaining to the DVD content. Evidently there are many more fans of Queensryche than just myself! I highly recommend this DVD album! |

Y ahora que mas puedo comprar? |

DTS Fans Stay Away |
|
If DTS Surround is a must requirement (like myself) for any music DVD purchase, then this disc is not for you. Marketadvisory lists one of this discs formats as being encoded in DTS but that is not the case. I will have to do a little more research before I buy any other music DVD's from Marketadvisory. Sound quality is good for Dolby and the footage is a little jumpy but overall it's a good rep of Queensryche's music. |
