What Old Is New
The beginning of the DVD I first thought a little odd, it seemed like Gilmour was doing a sound check. But it quickly turned into Shine On You Crazy Diamond. He performed many of the classic Pink Floyd tunes and even though I was skeptical that I would like a lot of them played on an acoustic guitar, I enjoyed the whole show tremendously.

Unlike when Clapton turned Layla into an acoustic version that had little resemblance to the legendary version, Gilmour's acoustic interpretation is very similar to the recorded versions. He does pickup an electric guitar -- a Gretsch -- from time to time and it's every bit as good as it used to be.

David's voice isn't quite what it used to be, but he's not as young either like a lot of us fans. I didn't find it detracting from the entertainment and motivational value as guitar player.

I highly recommend this video to any Pink Floyd/David Gilmour fan. I think you'll find it well worth the price.

Now...an actual review of the MAGNIFICENT "About Face" VHS!!!
WHY is Marketadvisory linking these reviews to something COMPLETELY different?!?!!?

All of the reviews (That I've seen so far, I'm not looking at all 173) are NOT about the VHS "About Face" they are about his MUCH more recent acoustic performance DVD!!!

Again...WHY? Are they that brain dead?!?! The About Face VHS is hands down THE #1 WHERE IS THE DVD candidate (see my list posted here on Marketadvisory) there is!!!

Originally filmed at The Hammersmith Odeon in 1985 on David's solo About Face tour I personally think it is superior to some Floyd!! He has an all-star band (Bad Company's Mick Ralphs on guitar and The Firm - AC/DC drummer Chris Slade) and Roy Harper and Nick Mason join him for one song each.

With the exception of Run like Hell and Comfortably Numb this is all solo material and, sorry Waters fans, his 1st 2 solo albums BLOW AWAY Floyd's The Final Cut and ANY Waters solo release. And I would put "There's No Way Out Of Here", "Short and Sweet" (the Roy Harper song) and "Murder" up against all but the absolute cream of Floyd material.

I like it so much I bought the PAL import DVD but would LOVE a re-mastered and re-mixed domestic release!!!

David Gilmour Live in Concert
Attention, Floydians: This album is a MUST HAVE. It's one of the best-produced concert videos I've ever seen. The feeling is one of an intimate performance - you are there. It must have been filmed by a musician, because attention is paid to the finger mechanics and gives a feeling of the production as a whole. Nice variety of camera angles and orientation toward the performers. The sound quality is excellent. And, of course, Gilmour is awesome. If this video doesn't raise goosebumps, have your pulse checked.

David Gilmour in Concert - Live at Robert W.s Meltdown
I love it, specially "Dimming Of The Day" - besides that most the program is Pink Floyd unplugged. Only the windscreen on David's Vocalmike is awfull.

David Gilmour In Concert
This is an awsome concert. I just can't watch it enough. It's one of my most prize DVD's. I recomend it to everyone.
