Journey to the Center of the Earth 3D is full of whizz-bang demonstrations of how far 3D technology has come--trilobite antennae quivering towards the audience, a T-rex lunging out of the frame, even affable star Brendan Fraser spitting on us--as well as a half-dozen action sequences clearly destined to become videogames or theme park rides. The plot is incidental: When a seismic geologist (Fraser) discovers his lost brother's notes in a copy of the titular Jules Verne novel, he and his nephew (Josh Hutcherson, Bridge to Terabithia, Zathura) head to Iceland. There, joined by a fetching mountain guide (played by Icelandic actress Anita Briem), they get trapped in a cavern and go down, down, down, finally arriving in a primeval underworld full of prehistoric beasts and carnivorous plants. It would be pointless to complain about the empty-headedness of it all; Journey to the Center of the Earth 3D aspires to be a kinesthetic experience. It wants to engage your adrenal glands, not your brain or your heart (the dialogue and characters are so generic, the script may have been cut-and-pasted from previous versions of Verne's book). Fraser, with his goofy handsomeness and accessible presence, provides a reasonably human axis around which all the frantic flying and swooping CGI effects revolve. The movie is as hollow as the world it depicts, but as mindless action movies go, you could do a lot worse. --Bret Fetzer

Journey to the Center of the Earth 3D
After watching this movie in 3D, I doubt I would purchase another 3D DVD as I found the 3D effect would sometimes disappear if I moved my head slightly. The 3D effect didn't work as well as I had expected. The movie itself was fun to watch. My suggestion would be to watch the 2D version.

Fraser's continued downward spiral.
First The Mummy 3 and now this atrocity.
Is Fraser even bothering to read the script before he accepts a role?
My guess would be no.

I'll make this short and sweet.
I never saw the film in the theater which if I believe the majority of people on Marketadvisory....the theater version was pretty awesome.
Now, I remember the stupid 3d glasses from when I was a kid and I was really expecting the home version to be a step up from what I had as a kid.
Right?
WRONG!!!
The same old blue/red.
Magneta/green.........WHAT EVER!!!
It still doesn't work and considering I had already had "a few", the glasses came off after ten minutes.
I thought I was going to barf.
So then I flipped the disc and watched the regular version.
Yawn,boring, etc....

The story is boring and mediocre at best.
The kid is annoying.
Fraser is annoying.
The stupid blond is annoying.

The fx are pathetic. The T-Rex doesn't even look as good as the one from Jurassic Park, and HOW long ago was that movie made?
With a budget this big there's no excuse for sloppy fx but sadly that's all we got with this movie.

Let's get back to the story, LOL sorry.....what story.
Fraser and Co. fall through ground, get chased by big dino thingys, shed a few well placed tears here and there and go home.
Yippee!!!

The acting was....ok.
Fraser continues to scream his lines for reasons that defy logic.
Like I said the kid was an obnoxious, mouthy brat.
The blond tour guide was of course only there because every good adventure needs a third wheel, brain, sexy blond for the main character to go ga ga over and rescue five thousand times.

So what was good?
Um......it's watchable.
It's just really and I mean REALLY DULL!!!
Other reviewers have stated that the whole movie was done to show off what they can do with 3d in the theaters.
I have to agree.
Too bad they can't do the same with home use.

Do I recommend this movie?
For jaded, action vets?
Probably not.
For kids who won't know any better?
Probably not, aren't our kids being dummied down enough by our public school system?
Why add even more nonsense to their heads.
Two stars for a boring but watchable Fraser scream fest.

never received item
I have as yet to receive the item, don't know if its any good or not, certainly didn't seem to be worth my time to order.

Liked it BUT!!
I thought there would be more to this movie..they could have done a better job..at least the acting was good..and parts were funny..the original had more meat to it..

borderline 3D
this movie has just come out new version of old movie the 3D is ok not really as good as some of my other older movies made in the late 50s
this movie is also out in blue ray 3D i have it and it is fantastic
best 3D movie i have in my collection sharp as a tack and things just pop out of the screen at you right in front of your face. if can get this movie in blue ray 3D it is amazing..............
