A well-to-do girl raised in the city, Christy is shocked and completely unprepared for the extreme poverty, ignorance, and superstitious tendencies of Cutter Gap's people, but resolves to persevere in her commitment to better the lives of her young students. Each day brings a fresh lesson for the children and a new struggle that inspires Christy to draw upon and re-examine her own faith while striving to disprove local superstitions and replace long-held animosities and prejudices with virtues like forgiveness and respect. Christy is surrounded by a handful of allies in Cutter Gap that include fellow missionary Miss Alice Henderson (Tyne Daly), whom she idolizes for her strength, resolve, and mentorship; Fairlight Spencer (Tess Harper), a local woman who offers Christy the rare gift of friendship; mission preacher Reverend David Grantland (Randall Batinkoff), a hard worker who immediately becomes smitten with Christy; and local Doctor Neil MacNeill (Stewart Finlay-McLennan) whose gruff manner and atheistic beliefs both confuse and excite Christy. The Christy Series Review |

We watched this series when it first came on TV and we all loved it. We've never seen it in stores and recently I was on amazon.com and found it for sale. I thought my mom would really like it for her birthday and she did. The DVD's were in brand new conditioned as stated online, and they all played perfectly with excellent quality. The price was fair that I paid for and I am extremly happy with my purchase from the seller. |

Excellent videos and we are enjoying the Christy episodes. Only problem is that the disks are not marked in any way, so one must find out by trial and error which is side A and which is side B for each disk and then label them accordingly. |

Extraordinary |

The pilot and first half of this series is exceptional. It captures that magic of the book way beyond my expectations. My husband even liked it. The second half of the season took on a life of it's own and they must have been running out of material as the episodes became obviously preachy with good messages about racism, logging and other weighty issues. They are good messages but a little too obvious and less magical. Still, it's a fine series and I would recommend it to anyone who is tired of sex, violence and crudeness dominating the TV air ways. |

Cancelled WAY too soon! |

I missed this series when it initially aired. Because of the reviews I thoght that I would try it. Boy and I glad I did! Why in the world it was cancelled after only two seasons is beyond me. The last episode was the cliff hanger for the third, and unfortuneately we'll never know what happened. Wonderful series, leaves you wanting more!! |
