Action-Packed Flight Lessons
Featuring a colorful foam body with green and purple details, blinking lights, and plastic rotors, this detailed little helicopter has plenty of aesthetic appeal. Before you start flying, you'll need to charge your Havoc Stinger. Use a Philips head screwdriver to insert six AA batteries (not included) the each controller. Then plug the helicopter into the cord on the controller. Since the plug has small prongs, you'll need to take care to seat them correctly.

Now it's time to start practicing. You'll want to encourage kids to get familiar with the controls before they try and any big-time stunt flights, since flying this choppers well takes practice. In addition to an on-off switch and a switch that lets you select the correct channel to control your helicopter, the hand-held controller has a throttle stick, a rudder stick, and a button to adjust for trimming.

We found the best way to start off was flying in a large, indoor space, while focusing on hovering an even distance above the ground. This simple task is trickier to master than you might imagine, but with enough practice it will become second nature. The included instruction manual offers tips for learning to fly, from focusing on the helicopter instead of the controller to applying very gentle pressure on the control sticks.

Fun, Imaginative Play for Expert Pilots
Once you've learned the basics of flight, you're ready for all kinds of exploratory missions. Kids and adults alike are sure to enjoy the variety of stunts a gifted pilot can pull off with this chopper.

This helicopters offers an excellent opportunity for parents and kids to play together. They can offer each other flight tips and compete to land in tricky places or fly through narrow corridors. You may find yourself having even more fun than your children with this remote-control helicopter.

Overall, the Havoc Stinger provides a great way to teach patience, persistence, and principles of flight, all while having a great time. Our one real concern is the durability of the helicopter itself. While Air Hogs thoughtfully includes extra tail rotors, and our helicopter survived lots of brutal crashes while we were learning to fly, it is made of foam and lightweight plastic. This means that if your chopper gets stepped on or tossed around, it is almost sure to sustain some damage.

Customer Reviews for  'Air Hogs Havoc Stingers Green'

A bit delicate for a remote control toy that flies
This would be a really fun toy if it were not so fragile. It is just not a durable as one would like it to be. Especially if you are giving this to a child to play with, even under adult supervision. I think my daughter had all of 15 minutes of fun with it before it just became too much of a chore to deal with.

Fun little helicopter
Though this toy is not the best made, it is a lot of fun. A little hard to control, especially for younger kids. Thing takes off very fast and runs into a lot, but keeps going. No problems so far. Fun toy.

Fun and Durable!
I ordered this for my 12-yr. and my 18-yr. old sons - they both loved it! It has withstood many crashes and it did not take the boys long to get the hang of it. My 18 yr. old, in USAF, was disappointed when his would not work out of the box, but requested a replacement because he had so much fun with his brother's! Unfortunately, when we returned his to the store, they told us a lot of them had been returned for not working. But we're willing to give it another try since our other one is GREAT FUN!

Great Disappointment, horrible design
I understand the draw to this little IR controlled copter. It looks cool, and seems to have the aspects of a great radio device. Unfortunately its so fickle and uncontrollable that it's only saving grace was that it was bought on clearance. Its also not radio controlled, but more on that in a sec.

First the up-side. It is pretty durable.
Oh, and the eyes glow.
Yup thats about it.
It's supposed to lift off from a "level surface," but the soft plastic legs teeter this way and that, making such a task impossible to do.

Acceleration is done by stabilizer rotor adjustments rather than "rotor tilt", so you have to "turn right" to move forward, and "turn left" to slow.
This circling method could have been effective, but the weak IR controller manages to lose communication when line of sight is gone. Worse yet, should the thing fly through a beam of light, it's suddenly possesed by alien spirits.

Crash it bad enough and you have to adjust the trim. Did someone use a remote in the room? Guess what!
All in all a kite is more controllable.

I understand how people with optimal conditions might give this a great review. But in the end if I could afford a home with an empty 8'-15' totally empty room with no electronics and even lighting, chances are I could afford a real radio device.
This toy absolutely misses it's target market.

Six pincers down!

Heck Yes
Just got this for Christmas and it's a lot of fun. Since I've never flown an RC helicopter before I assumed I'd crash the thing a couple times and it'd break, but so far it's survived dozens of collisions with walls, people, pets, etc. without any trouble. The main downside with it is it's very difficult to actually get it to go where you want it to. I could see a young child getting frustrated with it easily. I have to kinda make it undulate to the left and right to make it go forward, so it kinda looks like a fish swimming upstream more than a helicopter, but hey, it works! Also, I like the glowing eyes.
