Broken corners, but fun to play with |
We received this as a gift for my 5 year old son. The first one arrived with a broken corner on the largest plate. The purchaser requested another one and instructed them to use more padding or a larger box. A second set was shipped in exactly the same way as the first, again with a broken corner on the largest piece. We are now waiting for the third shipment. Hopefully all pieces will be intact this time.
The largest piece is considerably flimsier than the other 3 smaller pieces. Once it gets bent, it's just a matter of time before the white line turns into a crack and the piece breaks off. My son and daughter (and husband) are enjoying playing with them until that happens. |

Great for building |
Kids love the smaller plates and can connect them with legos to buiild roads. Biggest one's corner was bent slightly whenit arrived and it seems more flimsy (probably b/c of large size)than the others.
Overall, nice product more $ than I thought it was worth though. In hindsight, I might have bought plates individually in store for less $ than the set online. |

as advertised, but thinner than expected |
these plates are as they are advertised, but they also are a bit thinner than I expected, which makes them harder to use on carpet or soft surface.
the company put a picture of the actual product on the outside of the package -- a really dumb idea when ordering a TOY! luckily my son didn't see it before I hid it. |

Foundation for imaginative play |
Recommended to stretch your existing Lego investment, especially for children who set up characters and scenarios with action based on land or water.
The extra land (and water, the blue pieces) helps my child set up complex and imaginative scenarios and fix them in place, then move different pieces forward and around. He's a WWII buff, and orderly lines of vehicles and people are important in his play. Watch your own kids' play before deciding -- another child, by contrast, built spaceships for years, and never asked for or needed any land in over ten years of lego-play. His creations swooped through the air.
The one baseplate we already had (which could have been 10 or more years old) was a thicker plastic, these are a bit thin and could easily be cracked by carelessly stepping on them.
It's a subtle gift, kids don't really know you can get extra parts like these, they are focused on the big pictures on the boxes they see at the stores. It was well-received and the pieces are in constant use. |

not all big |

Great to add to Lego play, but we thought all the plates were the large ones. Only one large gray one and three smaller green ones. FYI |
