View larger. | Easy Installation and Adjustment The safety of your child depends on the correct installation of his or her car seat. That's why the Frontier offers a truly parent-friendly design for quick and easy set-up and adjustment. First, the premium push-button LATCH (Lower Anchors and Tethers for Children) connectors ensure a fast, simple and tight installation so you know your child is secure. The tangle-free, five-point harness has eight harness heights you can adjust with one hand, and three buckle positions for a snug and secure fit. For added convenience, the headrest adjusts quickly without requiring you to re-thread the straps. True Enhanced Side Impact Protection for Peace of Mind The Frontier also gives you additional peace of mind by featuring engineered true side impact protection. Deep side walls and head support provide advanced shock-absorption and cushioning in side impact collisions, helping to reduce the risk of injury. Additionally, EPS (Expanded Polystyrene) impact foam lining around baby's head and torso absorbs energy in side and rear impacts, cradles baby's head to keep it away from protruding parts, cushions violent side to side movements, and creates a comfortable resting spot. Safe for Growing Children Besides True Enhanced Side Impact Protection, the Frontier boasts other advanced safety features that provide optimum protection. Most importantly, the patented Versa-Tether fastens the top of the car seat to factory installed automobile anchor points, reducing the possibility of a head injury. This system also allows for rear-facing tethering to help keep the seat stable. Comfort and Convenience Car trips should be pleasant, and the Frontier has everything your child needs to relax and enjoy the ride. Dual cup holders are great for sippy cups, snacks and toys, while the armrest invites your little one to sit back and watch the world go by. Comfort foam helps make naptime cozy and restful, too, by supporting your child's neck and head in a comfortable position. The Frontier is designed to be used in the forward-facing position, with the harness, when children are two years old and weigh between 25 and 80 pounds, with a standing height of 30 to 53 inches. The booster is intended for children weighing 40 to 100 pounds and with a standing height of 42 to 60 inches. The Frontier measures 19.5 x 22.0 x 26.5 inches (WxHxD) and weighs 23.5 pounds. | Also available in: | Red Rock | Pink Sky | Canyon | | | The Britax Frontier Booster Car Seat offers: - Deap side walls and adjustable head support.

Five point till their big--mechanical/electrical engineer |
We've got a subie forester (not the 2009) so it's a bit tight in the back seat--clearance between our daughter's legs and the front passenger's seat. Our car isn't LATCH equipped. There is a little less clearance than the Recaro young style(?) we just moved her out of--outgrew the weight limit for the 5 point finally. We switched her into the Frontier within two weeks after she outgrew the 5 point in the Recaro, so there wasn't much complaining--sold her on how she got a new seat, too. Had this seat been available, we probably would have not bought the Recaro but we were looking for the seat that would take her to the end of 5 point land in a small interior. Recaro has been great--we use it in my car as the backup.
So far the Frontier has been great--we've had it for two weeks. Our daughter's not real interested in the armrests or the cup holders--we'll see how that changes over the years. It was easy to install securely. The double strap for the top tether is a pain though--does not play very well with our dog cage for the cargo area. A single strap on the top tether (used on most seats) would be better. Getting her in and buckled is easy--certainly easier than the two weeks of trying to reach across her to buckle the seat belt when we used the Recaro as a booster. She complained at first that the straps were pinching her neck--seems to have gone away. The rubber strap protectors (positioned about the sternum clip) are a good idea--mostly because they keep the sternum clip from being moved by small hands.
We have not tried the driver's side and middle for our rear-facing Triumph and the Frontier--she was bothering her baby brother so we decided to split them up--so I can't say if these will fit side by side. But the seat is as wide as the Recaro and when we tried it, the Recaro and the rear-facing Triumph did fit together.
I definitely bought the seat due to 2 reasons: 1) 5 point until she's big and 2) the advertised side impact protection. I realize that the side impact protection is just advertised, but I'm sure that Britax knows the sort of gauntlet they are casting when they promote side impact protection--I expect them to come through: they seem to be into testing and re-testing. Daughter seems comfortable enough in it--she will zonk out occasionally, just like in the Recaro.
I am an electro-mechanical engineer and am concerned about safety, so I have a pretty sharp focus on the ability of the seat to help keep my family safe. Having said that my wife is much more aesthetically minded and she usually groans whenever I bring the latest contraption home. She did not groan about the Frontier, so I suppose that it must be at least not too ugly. The seat is heavy (so is the Recaro) and I am not looking forward to lugging it through the airport. You have to make your choices: I know the Sunshine seats fold up for a bit of carrying ease, but they do not have the deep head wings that (in my opinion) help to provide the side impact protection. |

Great piece of mind |
|
It was hard to put in, maybe because i hadn't read the instructions properly, but it is now in and solid and I'm glad we made the choice of spending a lot of money on a 5 point harness that lasts longer than 40lbs. I don't think a seatbelt is enough for a 4 year old, not when she can take it off at any time, so this gives me piece of mind. |

Really like it, but installations tips were critical |
Have it in two cars - one with latch and one without - and had a lot of trouble getting it snug at first on both of them. Once we found the tips (where to pull for latch, and the "long" way to route wihtout), worked great.
We had other Britax seats before (Marathon and Roudabout) and we are pleased to have found a bigger one that will grow with him. My son loves the seat, but does like to have cold water in his cup holder.. |

awesome car seat-but a little hard to install |
|
This is the 4th Britax car seat I have owned. This car seat is everything it claims to be except it is a little difficult to install. We purchased a new car recently and I didn't want to move the car seat between vehicles so I purchased another car seat. The other 3 seats have been an infant and we also have 2 marathons.( one in each vehicle). Our daughter will outgrow the marathon, she is very tall so we went with the booster convertable. I was disapointed that I couldn't get the seat to fit securely in the middle of the back seat. It took forever, but I finally got it on the outside. It is very tight and doesn't move at all, but I would rather it be in the middle. Another thing that is a little annoying, is the bottom clips seem to fall into the seat and they are hard to get a hold of with my daughter in the seat. She loves the comfort and that it has little cup holders on the sides. Overall, great car seat once again. |

I am so happy with the Frontier. I tried many many boosters out and finally bought the frontier. Read the directions and it is SO easy to install. |
