it works with significant limitations |
First, the installer always tries to install its own USB phone driver. If you already have a driver (for example the OEM driver), this new driver is unnecessary. But there is no option to not install it. If drivers are already installed, this part of the installation crashes, but leaves the rest of the product installed. The updater also crashes when it hits this part, but seems to update the rest of the product. Not a good first impression.
I've used this with my LG vx5500, which it says it supports. It does not actually synchronize data, but simply overwrites. It reads from Outlook and writes to the phone, replacing anything already in the phone. This is both for contacts and calendar events.
For contacts, it always writes to the phone as FIRST, LAST. There is no option to order by FILE AS or any other field.
For calendar events, it can't read tasks or notes from Outlook, only events. It only shows the event subject in the phone; the location and body text are ignored. There are no options to configure this behavior.
Overall, this product does work, but the above limitations seriously limit its usefulness. For a product that has been out for years, it seems more half-baked than I expected. |

Nearly worthless |
I had a Samsung 8200 and used the Data Pilot software to back up my contacts to transfer them to my new Google G1 phone.
Suffice it to say, their data transfer capabilities are worthless. You have the capacity to export your address book to windows Outlook or Apple's Iphone.
Excuse me, but the world does not revolve around Apple or MicroShaft. A simple method to export to CSV format would be VERY helpful. Of course, Google doesn't read MS WAB (address book) format, and the outlook export to CSV simply doesn't work well.
Find other ways to sync your phone and your PC. |

Not So Good |

I'm dissapointed in the product for the LG Rumor. The Outlook contact link is clunky and the calendar is non-existent. I can more easily link MP3's through a direct USB connection rather than use this S/W. They took over a month to ship the S/W and sent the wrong package w/wrong USB cable. I wasted my money on this. |

2nd rate program |
I purchased a Sprint LG Fusic cell phone on the salesman's assurance that the phone would "sync" my 500+ contacts, notes, and schedule, etc. with Microsoft Outlook as my Palm pilot currently does IF I bought the Susteen Datapilot program. After installing the program on my home PC and putting it to work, I quickly discovered that the program does not synchronize (or exchange) information with Outlook at all. Datapilot does a poor job of importing Microsoft Outlook files, transfering information incompletely, improperly formatted, etc. After what information is successfully transferred into Datapilot, this information
is, then, exported to the phone. Thereafter, any changes made to Outlook files or phone data do not get exchanged back and forth between the PC and the phone. Information can only go 1 way. Changes made in Outlook on the PC can only overwrite what is already in the phone, so, any changes made to phone date will be lost and vice versa. I ended up returning both the Datapilot AND the phone (and the phone return was no easy task).
Overall, a VERY dissatisying, frustrating experience. |
