Convenient |

Convenient and appealing design. However, some USB mice do not work very well with this hub. |

A Logical Choice |
I've tried a variety of USB hubs, most of which were disappointing. With USB hubs, the biggest issue you are likely to run into, is consistency. Many cheaper hubs either work, or malfunctions right off bat. Others surprise you by dropping peripherals. All this amounts to a waste of time bundled with the added inconvenience of having to return defective hubs and or buying new ones only to confront another cycle of inconsistency.
In a nutshell, my opinion is to pay slightly more for a dramatically better product (or something that actually works). The Logitech 4-port Hub is well-built, slick, and as far as I'm concerned, very reliable. I have plugged 2 500GB hard-drives, along with a MIDI keyboard and a mouse to the hub (occupying all four slots), and I haven't experienced any dropping of peripherals or compromised transfer speeds for my hard-drives. (Hub connected to my MacBook Pro)
All this translates to more productivity and less time wasted looking for something that works. For me, the search for a USB hub is over. The Logitech is everything I need it to be. |

Functionally it works fine. I have not yet had the need for extra power supply for this unit. There are 2 things that bother me. The ports are packed too close - using 1 port blocks the next one. Also the cable provided is short; little over 3 ft. |

problematic with LaCie external hard drive for Mac |
|
My external hard drive (LaCie) has two usb cores, both need to be plugged into the computer for the hard drive to work. The port does not recognize one of the cores. That is when I plug it in, the green light indicating connection does not turn on and the lap top doesn't show the hard drive. I tries many variations (like plugging into different entries in the port itself or turning on and of, doing things gradually) and nothing works. The port works well with ipod and digital camera. So if you are a Mac user and thinking to buy this port in order to connect your external LaCie hard drives, don't do it. |
