Ok shredder but has issues |
This shredder looks good and if you clean it often, works well. But it has a couple of issues that makes me worried about using it and give it the two stars. #1 - It shreds paper into small pieces but when you go and look and the pieces, sometimes you find one about 3/4 inch thick, I think it has to do with the edges but my previous no-brand shredders never did that so I don't understand why a more expensive model would. #2 - I don't think it can shred at specified capacity and I wouldn't shred more than a 2-3 sheets max. #3 - It is out to either burn down my house or shred my fingers. It doesn't happen often enough for me to return it and be confident they'll see it and honor the warranty but once I came into the house hearing it running and it was obviously w/o any paper and all clean and running very hot. And while I keep it in off mode when not in use since then, I forgot to do that at least once and got shocked when it just came on when I was in the room. I also worry that I may accidentally forget to turn it off again and either have it running hot again or worse yet have it come on when cleaning/emptying it. The second one at office has the same #1 and #2 issues but no problems w/ the automatic feature. p.s. Marketadvisory's tag suggests "a great safe shredder". Mine isn't, also just noticed the same problem reported by another user.. |

Works great - flimsy base |
Shreds great. Does everything as advertised. My only issue so far is the flimsy base especially when you remove the waste basket to empty it. Getting the waste basket back in place is hit or miss and if it's miss, i.e. not tight, it won't function. |

Fellowes 32177 Powershred shredder |
The shredder is probably my fourth or fifth home shredder. I have been very happy with it's quiet and efficient operation. I am most impressed with the shredding of CDs and old credit cards. The cross cutting of these items has been great. This shredder was a great value. |

How did I live without this shredder for so long? |
I finally got tired of fighting with my old shredder every time. This shredder is terriffic! It eats staples, credit cards, CDs, cardboard, sticky labels, and a dozen sheets of paper at a time. My home is my office, so this shredder does double duty every day and never complains. It is very safe and easy to use. It is relatively quiet for its toughness and its waste bin is a reasonable size - you won't have to empty it every day! I empty mine once a week wether it needs it or not. Unless you were an accountant for Enron, you will not be dissapointed in this shredder!! I give two thumbs up - if you are really looking for a solid shredder, buy this one. |

Works very well |
I've been going through lots of old bills and papers from several years ago and most of them need to be shredded before being tossed. This shredder has done a great job. It is possible to feed more paper than it will handle at a time through the slot, but as long as you keep the number of pages at a reasonable level, it churns through them very well. The smaller slot works great for plastic credit cards... I haven't tried a CD yet. I like the safety features... it's got a heat indicator LED if you use it too long at a time (more than about 20min running) and it shuts down until it cools. I've been pleased with it. |
