Exceptional Price, But has a few problems |

I bought this about a year ago to replace my Lexmark. My lexmark was exceptional, but VERY expensive ink and then when a band fell out of place, I couldn't fix it and Lexmark customer service SUCKED royally. So I bought this Kodak. I love the fact that I can get both color and black for around $20. (Lexmark would cost me around $60) I love the fact that I can put my memory card right into the pc and print out 4X6. Now for the bad news. It doesn't come with a manuel. SO every time you have a problem, you have to load the manuel on line or call the service center. My first problem was when I ran out of ink in the middle of doing a biography on my Dad due by Xmas 2007 as a present to my bro and sis. I couldn't do ANYTHING. I even had to unplug it to get it to turn off. Customer service was not real nice about this problem. This is a bad manufacturer detail. The ink should not have anything to do with the scanner !!! I live an hour away from the nearest department store and can't just run out and get ink. Also, seen I can only buy ink online or at WALMART. This maybe me though, but if not, I shouldn't have to go to a certain store to buy the ink. Second problem was my printing became horrible. I contacted the service department, which was exceptional this time in replacing my printer head for no charge and no hassel and even giving my a ink replacement for the trouble. (my opinion its to cover a recall that should of been done, since I am reading this is a frequesnt problem) No more problems with that, HOwever when I try to print using Kodak full sheet paper, it keeps saying wrong paper size. I have 8.5 x 11 checked in my preferences and have purchased that same size. But it still shoots out the paper saying wrong paper size. I have emailed the customer service department, and am awaiting a reply. so I have had a string of problems, but so far as long as they get fixed I will remain this kodaks owner cause I can't afford 60 ish dollars that the other printers ink's charge. Pictures printed on this is good as long as the paper you buy is good. Cheap paper makes for cheap quality pictures. But is a little slow at printing them especially for the first one (spooling slow), but not that big of a deal. I would recommend this but people should be aware of what could be in store. Most things has problems, and this Kodak is no exception. It's made in China and that is a problem now days, seems as though anything we get from them comes with problems. I read on someones review that its made in the USA. It is not. Read inside the scanner glass on the side wall. This product is made in CHINA !!! Thats always a BEWARE sign ! But I still like the printer, not made me that mad yet. But am anticpating a big blow soon. Until then I will recommend this but with caution as with anything that cost $$$ |

Piece of junk! |

I got this printer less than a year ago, and a few months ago it totally stopped printing anything of any quality. I kept thinking it must be the ink cartridges drying out, but even with brand new ones the quality is atrocious. I am going to have to chuck mine in the trash and replace it, because it doesn't print ANYTHING. Plus you think that you are saving money buying a printer that has cheaper cartridges, but this printer won't print ANYTHING if one color runs out - so you are replacing the entire cartridge ALL the time. It's very annoying. I hate, hate, hate this printer. It was a complete waste of money to buy it. |

Worked great until it didn't work at all |

For about six months, this printer has worked great. All of a sudden, once I left for college, it somehow stops working. Not all together, it still copies and scans, but my parents and sister almost never use it for either purpose. When you click to print a document, it will print extremely light. My dad took it back to where he bought it and got an HP printer instead. |

WELL... OLY BECAUSE THE INK IS CHEAP |

I BOUGHT THE 5300 1 YEAR AGO, AND IT WAS WORKING FINE BUT THEN WHEN I WANTED TO PRINT SOME DOCUMENTS, THE PRINTER DIDN'T WORK AT ALL, SO UNINSTALLED THE SOFTWARE I THOUGHT IT WAS THE PROBLEM, BUT NO.... SO I CELLED THE SUPPORT, WHICH THEY HAVE THE OPTION FOR SPANISH, AND THEY NEVER ANSWERED, I WAS ON THE PHONE FOR MORE THAN 3 HOURS JUST TO CHECK IF SOMEBODY WILL ANSWER ME. RIGHT AWAY I DID BUT IN ENGLISH AND TOOK ME LESS THAN 5 MINUTES SO THEY TOLD ME WAS THE PRINTHEAD THE PROBLEM, AND THEY SENT ME ONE OVERNIGHT. AFTER THIS FIRST ISSUE, I NOTICED THAT SOMETIMES I COULD PRINT ONLY IN PHOTOPAPER BUT IT WOULDN'T PRINT ON CARDSTOCK OR REGULAR PAPER. SO I CAN TELL YOU EVERYTIME I WANTED TO PRINT SOMETHING IT WAS NOT WORKING AND REPLACE THE PRINTHEAD AT LEAST 3 TIMES, OF COURSE KODAK SENT ME FREE OF CHARGE, AND THE 2ND AND 3RD TIME THEY GAVE FREE INK, BECAUSE SOMETIMES WHEN YOU DO THE MAINTENANCE ON THE PRINTHEAD IT USES A LOT OK INK. THE LAST TIME I REPLACE THE CARTRIDGE IT WAS BRAND NEW AND AFTER ALL THE PROCESS THE KODAK REPRESENTATIVE TOLD ME , I SAW I HAD HALF CARTRIDGE AND I DIDN'T PRINT ANY OF MY DOCS I WANTED. AFTER 10 MONTHS (AND I DON'T PRINT A LOT, ONLY WHEN I HAVE OCASSIONAL INVITATIONS) I WAS PRINTING IN PHOTOPAPER (IT WAS NOT KODAK PAPER) AND THE PAPER JAMMED, I CALLED THE KODAK SUPPORT AND HE TOLD ME TO USE KODAK PAPER FOR BETTER PERFORMANCE, BUT I DON'T KNOW ABOUT YOU... BUT IF I KNEW I HAVE TO USE EXCLUSIVELY KODAK PAPER I WOULDN'T HAVE BOUGHT THIS PRINTER, ADN IS WHAT I TOLD TO THIS GUY. THE POINT IS THAT THAT BRAND OF PHOTOPAER I USED BEFORE AND NEVER JAMMED. SO I WAS REALLY FRUSTRATED AND UPSET, SO FINALLY THEY APPROVED TO REPLACE THE PRINTER, I STILL HAVE WARRANTY SO FAR, AND THEY TOLD ME IF I HAD ANOTHER ISSUE WITH THE PRINTHEADS OR ANY PROBLEM THEY WOULD REPLACE THE PRINTER. BUT WHEN I TOLD THEM ABOUT THE JAMMING THE LAST TIME THEY DIDN'T WANT TO REPLACE IT, BUT TOOK 2 DAYS TO GET APPROVED MY CASE. AND ANYWAY THEY GOT MY CREDIT CARD INFORMATION AND THEY SAID IF IT WAS ANOTHER PROBLEM BECAUSE MY FAULT THEY WOULD CHARGE ME. AND THEY WOULDN'T SHIP ME THE PRINTER UNTIL THEY GET THE INFO OF MY CREDIT CARD. OF COURSE MY HUSBAND SINCE THE BEGINING DIDN'T WANT THE KODAK AND WITH ALL THESE PROBLEMS HE TOLD ME TO DUMP IT IN THE TRASH. BUT I WHAT I SAID IS THAT THE INK WAS CHEAP, BUT I CAN TELL YOU I PRINTED ONLY 20 DOCS IN LETTER SIZE, AND 22 IN LEGAL SIZE WITH 1 COLOR CARTRIDGE, SO... NOW I THINK MAYBE IS NOT WORTH IT. I PRINTED ALMOST 40 PICTURES 8X10 WITH 1 CARTRIDGE, AND I HAVEN'T REPLACE THE BLACK CARTRIDGE SINCE I DON'T REMEMBER.I HAVE THE NEW PRINTER FOR ALMOST 1 MONTH AND IT IS WORKING FINE. I READ ALL THE REVIEWS AND I THINK THE PROBLEM ARE NOT WITH THE PRINTHEADS, IT IS THE PRINTER FOR SURE. I THINK KODAK HAS TO IMPROVE THE PRODUCTS. AND I DIDN'T HAVE ANY ERROR, NEVER... BUT SOMETIMES I HAD TO REINSTALLED THE SOFTWARE BECAUSE IT WAS NOT WORKING. AND OF COURSE FOR KODAK, THE PROBLEM WAS MY PC. I DON'T THINK SO, BECAUSE WE HAVE A LEXMARK ALL IN ONE, 3 EPSON (R200, R300, R580) AND WE NEVER HAD THE PROBLEM WITH THEM. BUT I GUESS I WANTED TO SAVE MONEY IN THE INK... WITH KODAK. SO ANYWAY MAYBE IT WAS MY FIRST KODAK 5300 THE PROBLEM. MY SECOND SO FAR IT'S WORKING... WE WILL SEE IN A FEW MONTHS.... :-S |

My friend recommended this product and it is wonderful. I like that I can see the photos before I print them and decide how many of each to print. from the camera to printing and not having to go to the store. Ink is priced low too. |
