Viewsat VS PRO PVR Satellite TV ReceiverThis is an unsolicited review of an excellent satellite receiver. Once you spend the time to read the manual and other 'how to's', you will find very quickly this is a quality receiver. They have reduced the price by letting you connect (USB)a hard drive to it later if you want. There are two USB ports. One in front and one in back. I am currently using this receiver as a second one and it is connected to an old analog TV. Quality picture is amazing. You will only be disappointed if you jump in and try to operate it w/o reading first. It is a little different. |

Watching TV and recording it too |
I got this unit to watch satelite TV, and found that it can connect to any USB hard drive to record as well. Firmware is updatable via thumb drive.. Can record two channels at same time while watching \yet a third channel.. how cool is that?
The only draw-back that I have found is that the front USB can not transfer to the back USB or vice-versa (Can not copy from hard drive to thumb drive or from thumb drive to hard drive). This unit tok some time to understand the operations since I was used to the ULTRA model. It would be good if the various models had similar onscreen controls.
This is an excellent unit. I suggest downloading the new version of hte user interface though.. it is better than what is in the unit from the factory. |
