Customer Reviews for  'Kindle: Amazon's New Wireless Reading Device'

Best item I ever purchased
When I was young I disliked reading, preferred the quickness of TV. As I got older I realized the reward and richness one received from reading. Nothing encouraged my reading more than a Kindle.

No more recycling of newspapers; No more paying high prices for hardbacks, only $9.99!; no more heavy books to tote; no more black ink marks from newspaper print; no more going down our long driveway in one's pj's in freezing weather to get the newspaper......these are just a few of the advantages.

Not having to plug it into a computer is a big advantage. Waking up in the morning and having the newspaper right next to your bed, wow...how much more could you ask for besides a hot cup of coffee!

I am now informed, I am now enriched with reading unlike ever before.

I was the biggest sceptic. I said to my husband "No, I like the feel of a book." or "No, those are only for people that travel a lot." My husband went golfing on a Saturday morning and left his Kindle with me. I read the Wall Street Jounal and The Washington Post by the time he was on the 8th hole. I called him and said "I HAVE to have one of these!"

I am now one of it's biggest fans. The Kindle has significantly enriched my life.

Cost me $350...and has saved me more than $200 in first month
The Kindle is exactly as advertised. It reads great, works great....basically is everything you have heard or read. So i wont go into another product explaination. I can see a hundred ways to make the e-reader device and the new market for it flourish...but right now the Kindle is the best and is perfect for readers who have the 350 to spend.

If your putting yourself in a financial pinch to buy one, dont that makes no sense. But if you got the urge and the $350 laying around. Buy it, i love mine. I am sure you'll love it too. That doesnt mean you will not see ways of improving it. But it works great as it is. I can only compare it to this.

Imagine the first car....once people drove it they probably thought of a dozen ways of improving it for the second Generation.....but that doesnt mean that they didnt love the first one ,or even wanted to go without it.
That's me, the kindle is the future, and although i can think of a few new ways to make the whole package better....i still do not want to go anywhere without mine. So until 2nd gen....i will love my first 1st gen.

Oh, and it has saved me hundreds in book savings already.

Investment and reference books(eg.) $90 but on kindle are $39.00

Bestsellers 25.00 on kindle are 9.99

most paperbacks 7.00 on kindle 5.00

other paperbacks 7.00 on kindle 2.00

So if you have the 350 to burn and love to read. I would grab one.
In the end it will save you money, and i am guessing it will save a lot of trees too.

Worth Every penny!!
I bought this for my wife for our 3 yr anniversary, and all I know is that she is loving it!!
It is easy to use, and ordering books is just so simple!! The hardest part is to figure out which titles you want!

I would recommend it to anyone, it is worth every penny and then some!!

WHY WONT AMAZON TELL THE TRUTH?
How much easier it would be for Marketadvisory to create customer loyality by letting us know when version 2 is coming out. At least telling us that version 2 will be out soon is better then I do not.

Reading about Marketadvisory's comment only keeps me away from Marketadvisory. I am now purchasing my books back at book stores. I love to read and would use Kindle, but why would I purchase one only to have version 2 come out a month or two later.

Get the hint Marketadvisory - hate for you to continue to lose business

The death of the paperback novel
When I was growing up I used to read all the time. I would get books from the Bookmobile and read three or four novels a week. I eventually lost interest in constantly visiting the library and my reading dropped off, and eventually stopped all together. In recent years I have been trying to get back into reading, but checking out books from the library, or buying them from the bookstore really didn't appeal to me. I tried reading on my computer and PDA but I just couldn't get comfortable with them. When I heard about e-ink my interest was piqued. When I had an opportunity to buy a Kindle I jumped at the chance. I have already read four novels and am working my way through the fifth. What really sold me on the Kindle is the Whisper Net connection. The idea that you can have books sent to the device without a computer intrigued me. I use a Mac and more often than not management software tends to be Windows based.

So far my experience has been exceptional, I even was able to experience Marketadvisory customer service when the first Kindle they sent me had a bad radio. The customer service rep spent several minutes troubleshooting and then had a new unit shipped out. It arrived the next day. Marketadvisory had a goal of making the Kindle effortless to use. The only complaint I have is that it is a little too effortless. It is a little too easy to turn the pages. Other than that I love it. Way to go Marketadvisory! Now if the bookstore would just grow a little faster.
